A place that usually ends up far down on the cleaning list is shower walls.

You rinse shower doors with water every time you shower, which in some homes means several times a day. So, shower doors don’t get dirty quickly, do they?

If only it were that simple. The truth is that with every shower, more and more dirt and lime scale remover build up, which tends to settle into the pores of the shower doors.

These tiny pores are invisible to the naked eye but collect a lot of dirt and can grow larger over time, making the shower even harder to clean.

Our Most Effective Tip Is To Remove Lime Scale With Kalkbort KBM Calc Clean Strong

A product that is very effective is KBM Calc Clean Strong.

NOTE: If you use this to remove lime scale, you must be extremely careful. For example, you cannot use this in bathrooms with tiles sensitive to products with strong acids.

But this is a product we normally use if we need to effectively remove lime scale from shower walls.

How long does it take between cleanings before the shower doors are covered again with ugly, white spots?

First and foremost, it depends on how lime-rich the groundwater is.

If you live in an area with lime-rich, hard water, it doesn’t take many uses before lime scale deposits show. Of course, that’s quite frustrating, but here’s some good news!

There are several easy ways to clean shower doors of lime scale! In this article, we’ll give you our best tips for removing lime scale from shower doors.

We promise the lime spots will soon be a thing of the past!

Be Proactive To Prevent Lime Scale Build-up On Shower Walls

Now that your shower walls are finally sparkling clean again, there’s a lot you can do daily to reduce lime scale deposits in the future.

Build a habit of maintaining it a little each day. By spending a minute after each shower, you can save a lot of time when it’s time to clean the bathroom again.

An easy way to reduce unnecessary lime scale is to use a rubber squeegee to remove all water from the shower doors.

This prevents lime in the water from sticking to your nice shower walls. Additionally, it’s advantageous to rinse the shower doors with cold water after you’ve finished showering.

Cold water doesn’t evaporate as quickly as warm water and carries much of the dissolved lime away as it runs off.

Another good tip is to spray the shower doors with vinegar at least a few times a week. Pour vinegar into a spray bottle, spray it onto the glass after showering, and wipe the glass with a dry microfiber cloth.

With these simple tips, you’ll significantly reduce the time needed to clean shower doors of lime scale!

Remove Lime Scale From Shower Doors With Vinegar And Dish Soap

A more traditional method is to clean shower walls in a "housewife’s way."

The first step toward a clean and nice shower is to realise that rinsing the shower walls after showering isn’t enough.

Instead of rushing to the store to buy a bunch of cleaning products that can be harmful to both health and the environment, here’s a hot tip that’s both cheap and eco-friendly and that many already have at home.

Namely, vinegar and dish soap! Vinegar removes lime scale deposits, and dish soap breaks down dirt and grease.

By combining these two, you get a real miracle product that will tackle the toughest lime spots in the shower.

Preferably choose a dish soap that is Swan ecolabelled or eco-labelled with the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation’s Good Environmental Choice. If you’re interested in eco-friendly options, you’ll find more tips on eco-friendly cleaning here.

You need:

100 ml vinegar

100 ml dish soap

1 spray bottle

1 washing sponge

Do like this:

1. Heat the vinegar until it is warm but not so hot that it will burn you.

2. Pour the warmed vinegar into a spray bottle and add the dish soap.

3. Mix by shaking the spray bottle gently but without making the mixture foam.

4. Spray the shower doors generously with the mixture and let it sit for 30 minutes.

5. Rub with the washing sponge until all lime scale deposits are gone.

Rinse with cold water and remove the water with a rubber squeegee. If you still have some energy left at this point, we recommend drying the doors with a clean and dry cloth for an extra nice finish. Done!

Note! Make sure to use a washing sponge that does not scratch the glass. Use a scourer with a white underside.

It’s hardly fun to finally have clean shower doors but with lots of scratch marks that can’t be removed.
