How to clean the microwave in five minutes – literally!
We've all been there.
The microwave is full of odd stains that we don't really know where they came from and it smells a bit strange. Many postpone cleaning the microwave because it's often when you have a little time that you use it and then you forget about it again in the rush.
The result is that stains stick hard and are difficult to remove. But there is a trick that makes your microwave as fresh as when you bought it!
Let the microwave do the work
The easiest way to clean the microwave is to let it do the work itself. All you need to do is place a bowl of water and maybe some lemon juice and a splash of vinegar and then run it on full power for a minute or so. The hot water evaporates and splashes up and quickly dissolves all the dirt, and then it is just for you to wipe off with a cloth.
So remember:
- A bowl of water
- Lemon juice
- A little vinegar
- Full power in the microwave for a minute or so
- Wipe thoroughly
Easy as pie!
A bonus tip for next time is to use a microwave cover. These only cost 20-30 kronor but prevent your food from splashing all over the microwave next time you eat leftovers.
Don't forget the outside of the microwave
When thinking about cleaning the microwave most people probably think of the inside, but it is also important to clean the outside thoroughly. This applies especially to the door handle and buttons that you often touch and where bacteria can flourish. Use a microfibre cloth and an eco-friendly cleaning agent to wipe the microwave down properly.
Also take the opportunity to lift the microwave and clean underneath it. A fair amount of dust and crumbs can collect under it, you know!
